Questions about plumbing

So I am planning out my Savko order after doing tons of price matching. At first I was going to do all rigid PVC, but thinking about it not only is that more expensive it also means that if I decide to change up my set up later on everything will have to be completely redone. So I was thinking of using clear flexible vinyl. Will this be okay? Is there really any difference between clear flex tubing and Flex pvc?

Also what bulkheads are better, Threadxslip, threadxthread, or Slipxslip?

Also I have tried reading the herbie method thread on RC but i'm not getting much out of it anyone have a good source for learning how to do it?

You can't glue clear flex tubing but you can and need to glue flex pvc. The other problem with clear tubing is you get algae forming on the inside since light can penetrate it. I prefer slip/slip bulkheads since I've never had a glued joint leak although the other bulkheads provide a little more flexibility.

use BLACK flexible vinyl.. the black will hinder algae growth within the tubing.. (clear tubes will literally turn green from the algae lining the inside of them)

obviously, this isn't good for the tank (having a constant algae source growing in your feed/drain lines.) but it also slows down the flow of your pumps/drains..

in extreme cases, it can clog the line..

Just put unions in strategic locations and then the rigid is easily changed

Edit: I don't think rigid is more expensive than flex.

Rigid is only more because of having to buy all the aditional 90's, 45's and whatever else is needed to make the twist and turns.

I have been checking prices and they all turn out about the same and since I need to pick up some stuff that HD or Lowes doesn't carry I figured it would be better to just pick it all up at once. I still might buy locally but it just depends on how much the savko order turns out to be.

I think I am just gonna go ahead and go rigid and union it at the best places to stop from having to redo it.

So anyone know about using the herbie method, basically I am worried about the syphon and how to control your overflow sucking more water than your return is pumping.

I GUARANTEE that you will end up buying locally... no one (in the history of PVC) has ever "guessed right" on their pipe lengths and fittings...

The amount of siphon is controlled by a ball valve.
