Quiet One 4000 not wanting to work

I have a QO 4000 that I am trying to use as an external pump but for some reason it dosent seem to want to prime. I know it worksbc I just took it off of my 20l and put in on my 90 bc my other pump gave out :shout:
Any ideas on how to get it going?

Have you tried taking it apart and inspecting/cleaning the impeller?

yeah it runs fine....just took it off of the 20g and it was working great...its just not wanting to prime using it as an external pump....I had it as an internal on the 20g

that whats I thought if you submerge the 4000 it will work you coule put it in sump .IMO I would drill out sump and add bulkhead to side (no matter which external pump I was running) then it would prime instantly.IMO

Yeah...he said he didnt have anything that I could borrow till I get my pump fixed. I had to take the return off of my 20g frag tank and use it on the 90.

I've never known a QO to self prime if above water level. I'd put the bulkhead in (if you can) so it doesn't have to prime.

How long is it going to take to get your pump fixed or you get a new one? I can make some phone calls if it is going to take to long and harm anything in your tank. You have my number

based on what I've read...quiet one isn't a lifter..

you've got to install it below the water line..
