have to get rid of this little giant 5 msdc pump, pump would be great if I had a seperate life support room but doesn't work under the tank.
who makes the quieter pump? blue line, reeflo, iwaki or are there others that are less costly that can produce 1300 gph or more.

looking for a replacement external pump for closed loop. if anyone has one they want to get rid of send me a pm, I have one lead but it is a little above the budget I need to stay in

I also would like more info on a closed loop. Whats the advantages of it.

Dawgface has a Blue line 70 that he would probably sell you. It is in pretty much perfect condition.

dawgface has contacted me and we are in communication thanks for the heads up

Closed loop is basically hard-plumbed flow built into a tank without the need for supplemental flow pumps. It is aesthetically more pleasing than having pumps in the tank for flow.

Basically how it works is that you have an outlet from your tank which feeds a pump that returns the water immediately back to the tank through several pipes usually ending at a piece of Loc-Line. You will often times see the flow controlled using a "oceans motions" or some similar device which has a valve that rotates through allowing flow to continually cycle through different outlets in the tank.
