Rabbitfish blowing bubbles

My rabbit fish has a hobby of going to the surface, sucking air and then blowing bubbles out of his gills. It is pretty entertaining to watch. I've read online that a lot of people see their rabbitfish doing this but nobody seems to know why. Has anyone experienced this?
