Random pic of the day thread

Side view, straight through, from the edge of my desk.

I need to get one my my DSLR's working and figure out how to use it. That took WAY too much time in photoschop to make it look anything even remotely like it does IRL. The photo my phone took looks like it's swimming in brightly-lit windex, where in reality it looks ghostly white with a hint of violet.

Bonus cat.

Get a clip on lens for your phone, if that’s going to be your primary form of taking pictures. They are like $25 and make a world of a difference. Most even come with a macro lens at this point.

This is the one I currently have.

My phone is indeed my primary go-to. It's right there, in my pocket or on my desk, and generally a pretty decent camera (Samsung S22 Ultra). I'm probably going to upgrade again soonish, but the lenses I'm sure will work fine on a new one, I'm definitely going to have to look at getting a set.

I have a pair of D80's, but I don't know which is in the best working condition (inherited from my step-father after he passed) or really anything about their proper use.

I bought a pair of those coral view glasses off Amazon. At the time they were $6. Put em over the phone camera lense and it takes the blue out. Total poor man’s method. And I even wear them sometimes

This disco has walked quite a distance from where it started, and is refusing to let go of the first baby it dropped along the way

Defeated. That's what the mood is. In the past week and a half I have lost 7 of my 8 fish. This tank has been running for 5 years, I have had most of those fish the majority of that time with the newest addition probably 6 months ago. Kole eye tang, three years, six line 4 years, clownfish 3 years among others.

It appears it is a random ich outbreak. I did everything I could think of. Feeding with focus, Metro and garlic. Turning lights off to reduce stress. Putting fish in my sump so they would be out of heavy flow, etc..

My tank has not looked this good coral wise in awhile. Was really maturing and coral colonies were really becoming something.

I've had reef tanks for 17 years, since I worked at fish scales when I was 15. I have never had something of this magnitude happen. I have never rushed anything and let the tank do it's thing and develop into an ecosystem.

I can't figure out what triggered it. And as a rv technician who can normally fix anything. That's what is most upsetting, I just don't know.

Now, I'm looking at a tank that I have poured my heart and soul into and I have one fish left, a cherub angel whose fate is unfortunately probably written on the wall.

I don't know where to go from here.

I won a $50 gift card on R2R in a giveaway, I don’t remember entering 🤷‍♂️, so filled in on some pod species I haven’t added in a bit and more phyto for the tanks

So, that was yesterday for me!

Sans gift card, that is 😄

I gotta say I really appreciate the hand-written card. It's a little thing, but it makes a difference. My wife used to do the same when she worked for her family's business, she says.

I extended the garden last night figured I could remove the baffle to where my skimmer use to be. I've been contemplating it for a while. I'm pretty excited for the new real estate. If anyone needs any algae let me know!
