if you look at my tank you will see that my predrilled holes arent in the corner like my last tank they are offset a little. (1) My question is this....since its off set, and the return water coming back into the tank is being directed to the oppsite side of the tank which is going to cause a dead space to the left of the overflow. That area is goign to need a power head in order to cycle water back there right or wrong? (2) In my last tank i had crushed live rock in the sump, at the fish store the display tanks that they show off to catch yoru attention had nothing in one of his sumps execpt a bag of carbon, the other tank had a refudgim with plants growing... question is this.. what should i have in my sump? it has a skimmer and uv sterlizer and bio balls which i have heard good and bad things about, but do i need to go with sand, or live rock, the bio balls or nothing, bags of carbon, ect... thanks

What size it the tank? I had a similar tank, 65G, running and put a Vortech MP20 on the left side which gave me plenty of flow. Even if your overflow was in the center with a return on each side you would still want/need at least one additional powerhead for your main flow. The return should be relatively slow compared to the amount of flow you should have in the tank.

As for what to put in the sump, it depends on what you have in the tank. In my 120G I tried to minimize the amount of rock in the display so I made up for it with lots of rock in the sump. I also attached a seperate refugium with sand, more rock and chaeto with the lights coming on at night to help smooth out the drop in PH that occurs when the lights turn off.

its a 110 gal tank and with only one return... was trying to figure out if i should make it two returns as well as place a power head in that corner. Now for the sump.... i am not 100% sure as to what we are going to put in the tank... we me and the wifey always wanted to try our luck at corals as well as reef safe fish... so what should i put in the sump?
