My new tank is about ready to transfer fish from my 150. My RBTA is about 8 to 10 inches my water in the new tank test out good. Nitrates 0 ; nitrites 0; ammonia 0. Tank has been running about 2 months. It does have a bad ditome bloom right now. Trying to wait till it clears. Would I be OK to add them?

I don't see why not. Diatoms are nothing that will harm an inhabitant to my knowledge.

No not yet. My RBTA is on a rock that will have to come out first is why I asked. I have read that BTA need an established tank. (that is why I am asking)This is the only BTA I have ever got to live. So I am worried about it. My ORA Darwin False Percula clowns love it.

I never have seen a ammonia spike. That is what I am worried about. (I was gone out of town for a week) It might have happened then. ?? I hope. Tank has been running about 2 months.

Here's my main concern:

In a tank that doesn't have a high bio-load, probably won't have a "super" high bacteria count.

I agree that a bta needs an established and stable tank. I would be concerned amount the amount of bacteria vs. the load you would be adding. If you just add the anemone and the clowns, that is not a heavy load at all for that tank. If you added the bta, clowns, and 14 other fish, then I would be more likely to vote against the addition of a bta.

Either way, if you have any question about bacterial stability, microbacter 7 by brightwells works wonders for establishing bacterial balance.

I think will get 5 chromis and put in there, and let it go for a week or two. I need to try and catch some of my other fish. (time to find/build a fish trap) I have 150 to 180 pounds of rock in the tank now, and am going to add 100 to 150 pounds from my 150 at the time of the total break down.

I did 2 different methods, I put a raw shrimp and peed in the tank when I started the tank.

Yeah, I think I'll be using gloves when handling anything form your tank! ; )

Make that double layered gloves.

NICE!!!!!!!!' Lololol! I haven't heard of anyone doing that in a good 10 years or so. It works! Unfortunately, due to the recent popularity of mass medication(seems like there is a fix for anything these days) a lot of folks shy away from the pee in tank method. I've heard birth control, anti depressants, anti-inflamitory, anD other meds can mess stuff up. No proof though, just rumors

Ha i've never heard of that before, but it makes sense.

I'm not an expert by any means, but i would think with that much established live rock you woulkd have plenty of BB so that your tank would skip a second cicle.
