Reassure me....

I'm considering taking my rena xp1 off my reef tank to use on a goldfish tank for my little girl.

I have it on there in case I ever need to run media; but I never do. I've heard it's just a nitrate risk anyway.

Anyone see any reason why I shouldn't do it?

I did the same thing about a year ago and haven't had any issues. I ran an XP2 from day one and did run media through it but removing it didn't have any negative consequences. Go for it!

I think I'll just pop an extra powerhead in there. It will more than make up for the lost flow, which is all the rena is really providing right now.
