I got a ton of it starting to spred all over my tank. Whats the best way to get rid of it??

Thanks for all your help

First give us some details about your set up. Params, lighting schedule, flow etc....that way we can better advise on what to do to get rid of the so called red algea. Pictures also help as well....

Google Gelidium. If it's this, you either learn to live with it or throw it all away and start over (until you get it again).

ok i got a iphone, how could i take a picture of it and post it up here

I got a 20 gal tank, PC Bulbs, I try to leave it on from about 11-6,( I think this maybe the problem) Sump for filtration,

i don't remeber what everything was i guess ill get it tested tmrw and see what everythings at

Wait a minute, 11:00am to 6:00pm? If that's your light cycle with pc, There should be no way you have algae unless you never do water changes, don't have a clean up crew, and/or you have enough flow and filtration. Am I wrong in this? Please excuse me for my ignorance but that seems very strange to me counter what I have learned. ?????????????

just found at that it Red slime algae and got some red slime remover to get rid of it!! hopefully it works!! let me know if there's anything else yall can think of it get rid of it!!

Thanks

You really should test your water before you start dosing chemicals in your system.

If it is red slime, I would suggest doing the following:

1) Increase flow to the affected area
2) Do a 48 hour period of NO lights
3) Perform a massive water change

Details...we need them. Yes Red Slime Remover will work...short term. But the problem will come back in 3 to 4 months. I know because I was always treating the symptoms and not the cause for over 2 years. I finally traced it to the foods.

Specifically needing to make sure I rinsed my frozen food. I still have a bit of it but it's slowly receding.
