Does anyone know if any of the local stores have any of these? I cant even find them on any online stores. I had a couple a few months back and they were awesome tank additions, but my pistol ate them.

What happened to the pistol shrimp?

rit had a few of these a couple weeks ago..i got one and my emerald crab promptly pinched his eyes off and killed it ...they were living in the middle of 3-4 emerald crabs at rits though

when i changed tanks i gave him back to Blue Planet.. i think hes still there. I was tired of him eating my snails and crabs. I fed him a nice piece of krill almost daily but it just wasnt enough.. he HAD to have more. When i broke the tank down i found several empty snail/crab shells under the LR where his burrows were.

I just recently got one of these crabs from Nemos also and I was wondering if they need a place to come out of the water? Some people online say yes and others no and I wanted to know your opinion since you kept some.

I got one about three weeks ago, and sadly it just passed away. I think it might need a place to come out of the water because it was dead, just sitting still, on the highest pointbin my tank. While I can't say that conclusively, I feel like because of its position, it was most likely trying to get out of the water. Has anyone had good long term results with these?

thats a good question... honestly i dont know. I didnt think they did. I bought two. The first one completely disappeared in about a week. The second hung on for about 2 more weeks then i saw the top of his empty shell (obviously he had been eaten up) laying on the bottom next to the pistol's burrow. I never found the other. You would think if one can make it three weeks jsut fine underwater that it wouldnt need to but i just dunno.

I just found this... apparantly they CANNOT live indefinitely in water. Also.. they are more ideal for brackish water.. so i guess they do need some way to get out of the water. Im assuming they are talking about the red burrowing or "red claw" as well.
