Is this the correct color?
I've been going through a phase w my corals for the last 4 months or so where the tissue will lighten but they grow really well. Not sure what going on.

Any way... This looks a little light right?
Btw lights are well within usable time period as far as age goes.

Another example is my Valida. It grows at a high rate, but is light in"stem" color...

Hmmm maybe I'll pick up a Hana phosphate checker... I know po4 can do nutty things w the color.

Also I remember from when I was running Zeovit a solution I need to read up on

;)

The Red Planet looks pretty light should have little green actually in it as well, but the reason is so light IMO is that it i growing super fast. I know Trinh (Purplegorilla) has a redplanet and his is not quite that white, but really white and it is bc it is growing fast. I have a piece from him and it grows slower bc I dont have a reactor like he does and you can see some of the green in mine. I'd check it off that your corals are just fine.

So. What was growth rate have to do with dictating color? I need eddication;)

That I can't answer lol....all I know is the faster they grow the whiter the tips and lighter the pigmentation.

That doesn't look like my red planets. They grow fast with deep reds and greens. New growth is white, but usually has color within a day or so. This stuff grows fast.

I would say they are pale as well. Phosphates do cause this but I would think you would not have as much polyp extension as you do it your phosphates were high.

Not to doubt you, but I'm not even sure if first pic is really a red planet. You may something entirely new and beautiful...

Mine are exactly as others, green and mostly with deep red hues. Also, yours are not encrusting as mine is plating out towards the base. I could be mistaken but mine certainly does that. I can't think of 'phase' that would make yours that pretty and pink...:D

It was darker in color when I got it from another member. I've noticed a moot of my corals will lighten and then level out at a really bright coloration, but grow like crazy.

I HATE to say this, but could I be over skimming?

Ya my polyp extension is really great on everything in the tank

To me, I think your corals are starving slowly. It shouldn't be that pale in color. Recently I gotten a coral in another member's tank that was faded and was lacking vibrant colors in them. I should have taken some pictures. Anyways, it was a sunset motipora. The polyps were extended, however the base was really pale in orange at almost pink. Now it is completely orange, with all this time having polyps extension.

My Ora red planet, while it may look completely red or pale at the tip. However if you look at the base you can still see the green.

What are your parameters? Maybe change to a different light?

I'm kinda puzzled at this one as well...

I picked up 2 different frag packs a while back. Both had a red planet in it, both are fast growers but look different. Both were on a frag rack for several months side by side. One is dark red and stubby (very little green) the other has a lot of green with long polyps.

I was thinking of selling one when I first got them, now I like them both... what to do,what to do.

Pics?

I have considered this, but what has me stumped is they are all growing really well.

Lighting is an aquactinics t5.. Has been for 5 years or so...
6 48" t5 and 24 Cree LED's that I diy'd in the space of the 7th.

Clearly someone needs to hook me up with a piece so I can see how it will look in my tank :shades:

Yeah right... That requires me to download the card off the camera. I've been meaning to do that for over 4 years. Somewhere in that mess are pics of my tank coming across the mountain, my first corals, first attempts at aquascaping, switching from MH to LEDs and as bunch of other stuff.
