I have a plug on my frag rack that I bought from a sponsor with some zoes on it., it has 3 pieces of rock each with a different color of zoe.
The middle rock had a little red slime bacteria on it which I thought would clear up once in my tank
It's been about 3 weeks and the plug head is getting thicker , its not anywhere else in the tank but I want it goen before it spreads .
nitrates and phos are both in check I'm running a good lighting schedule and not over feeding I think its just a matter of it being there when I brought it in.
The middle rock is completely covered it choked out a few baby zoe polyps and since its on the other 2 pieces of rock those zoes haven't grown any . I wonder if its choaking it out .
I got some algae killer from a member with some stuff I bought but haven't ever had a use for it , , I know this is bacteria rather than algae , but would it help , I could do a concentrated dip or I read that some algae can be handled with a fw dip of the same ph , but what effect would this have on my zoes , or should I just scrub it off???

If it is actually cyano you should be able to siphon it off with 1/4" tubing

I'll try and suck it off in. The am once lights are on.
What would it be otherwise if it won't come off is there a red algae that looks similar

if used to the "t" as directed, I agree...

nutrient removal can help, albeit cyno can grow in ulns.....

Blue life is also a good product.

these products shouldn't be used more than a few times a year, though.....

I would try continuum bacter clean first. I would use chemi-clean as the nuclear option.

+1 but I believe The Fish Store in Chamblee is the only LFS that has it per their employee during the BBQ.

I only have it in the one spot on the plug and I sucked it off today so I hope its goen , I don't want to Starr treatments unless I know its growing elsewhere.
I'll look into the continuum if it comes back , thanks for reply

Just up your water change and feed less for a while you'll be fine

Ive used Chemiclean / red slime remover on many occasions with great success. Two applications max to get rid of the problem with no side effects.
