red stripe on the nose of my yellow tang

Ok, so here's something I've never seen before or heard of. My yellow tang has this weird red stripe on the nose. It's probably 1/4" long or so. I've had this fish for over 3 years so it's a bit disconcerting. I'll get a picture once the lights come on in a bit.

Anyone ever see anything like this?

Edit: Ok...an update: it's actually 2 stripes that are symmetrical on both sides. It almost looks like he rubbed his nose on some rock. Here's a pic I was able to take:

2nd update: The weirdest thing...it's gone. I put an algae strip in there and Bubbles come out to eat it and the stripes are gone. 30 minutes and it's like it was never there!!

Now I'm more confused than before!!

Maybe it was a washable tattoo?

That's weird... too symmetrical. Could he have got stuck on a powerhead or something that would have made such a uniform mark?

No on the powerhead. The only powerhead I have in there is a K3. It's almost like a flaring of the nostrils. "don't piss me off of I'll flare my nose at you!" :lol2:

The fish is back to normal. weird...just weird....

lol thats hilarious..i thought that picture was a joke..photoshopped..it looks like he put his nose on a grill....definately a shrimp molt...like a racoon getting his head stuck in a jar of peanut butter lol
