I saw these at a sponsot and "looked" pretty impressive in terms of ease of use. I was wondering if anyone has apparised their accuracy. I am running out of Seachem reagents and contemplating a change to Elos or Salifert. Maybe, I should explore Red Sea? Thoughts?

I am currently using their Nitrate test kit and really like it and has given me similar readings as my Salifert kit. I was using their Cal, Alk, and Mg test kit and really liked the ease of use and seemed to be on the same level as my salifert and elos kits for the same tests. The Titration(sp?) piece is really cool and makes it easy to dispense the testing solutions.
The only reason I stopped using the Cal, Alk, and Mg is because I picked up Hanna checker for Cal and Alk and for ease of use went back to Salifert for Mg.

Great feedback!
Thank you and pardon my incoherence, but what did you find to be the easiest to use AND most accurate?

I thought the Red Sea were all pretty easy to use and as accurate as any of the other like test kits.
If you have the extra spending cash I would go with Hana checkers, but again they are 2x the price. The Calcium checker is a little harder to use than the Alk and Phosphate due to the ridiculously small amount of test water you have to use, .1ml.

Are you referring to the regular Red Sea tests, or the Red Sea Pro kits?

The store I worked for 12 years ago used Red Sea, back in the day I checked them against Seachem's reference solutions and found them to be accurate - for the basics, anyway.

I haven't tried the Pro kits yet.

I carry and use Red Sea regular kits for my freshwater customers.

I am out of ALK tests, is this the one that you like and is this a fair price?

I am assuming they are the new ones.

The older version have a test tube and reagents. The new ones are titration kits. Easy to tell the difference. Like I said, I had no issues with the older kits, haven't played with the newer ones yet.

I have been using the Red Sea Pro test kits for CA/ALK/MAG for several weeks now. They are very easy to use. And seem to be pretty accurate for me when compared to the Salifert test kits that I have and a LFS near me.

I have been thinking about purchasing a Hanna Checker for CA and ALK but cannot make up my mind. I saw a YouTube from Mr. Saltwater fish where he reviewed the CA Hanna Checker and I believe he said the margin of error is + or - 6%. Can anyone confirm that? I wonder if a similar margin of error holds true for other non digital test kits.

Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread. I find the test kit debate very interesting.

If you have Amazon Prime, then yes since you'll get it in 2 days. Even then it's still free shipping. BRS will charge shipping.

The great thing about the Hanna checkers is that it becomes cheaper in the long run as you just have to buy the regents. You can also get refills for the Red Sea Pro kits, another plus for them. At least you can with the mag one which is what I have.

Assuming RD and Hanna are accurate, seems like the way to go if one's budget allows
