ok so after keeping fish, i have gotten into corals. my tank is a 46gal all glass bow front with a hang on overflow going into a sump. should i make the change to a reef ready tank? anything gained by doing that. i really dont see the difference, but there is a reason why they make them. thanks for the input.

Internal overflows tend to be safer that HOB units but either can have problems if not setup correctly. An internal overflow does eat up real estate in the tank but handles surface skimming better due to the larger opening. HOB units/plumbing can</em> be a visual distraction since they are outside of the "box". A Calfo "coast to coast" overflow seems to be the best option IMO for saving real estate and skimming performance. Google Calfo coast to coast for several examples. I plan to use one on my next tank.
