OK so I'm using a portion of my refund on reef related stuff I need/ want lol. But i dont want to just blow it on anything. So what im considering is to upgrade the lighting on the 14 biocube. Should i gut the top and stick in 2 panarama pros or leave the power compacts and add a few stunners. And is there a better way of monitoring my params, testing sucks. Also plan on getting a biocube skimmer. Also the fans dont work on the tank. Good use of money or no? Any better ideas?

Honestly I would work on getting a different tank, ( maybe the HQI biocube ). I have had bad experience with LED's not being able to keep coral happy ( MAXspect Razor ). I like HQI + LED for color.

There is nothing wrong with the biocube per say , its just you are limited to what you can do with such a small package. DO not get the biocube skimmer , its a piece of junk. On such a small tank your water changes should take care of not having a skimmer. I have a biocube 14 setup at my work so I do enjoy the cubes lol.

Wow hefty price tag. But very nice Aio. Maybe I can find one second handed.

But can the fans be fixed or replaced they don't make replacement parts for the biocube I have anymore

Where are you located now? I might can help on friday or sat. I will be running around tank hunting at all the LFS's and I promised tater I would go check out his shop and can swing by if need be.

the rapid led website has everything needed to upgrade the stock hood if you wanted to go that route. You could always go rimless too !

it IS very simple tho, the diy of getting it set up right only looks daunting to someone thats never really fooled with stuff like that. :D

I have looked at them many time and i dont know how i feel about them yet lol

I wouldn't do the panoramas. I've always had baud like with the pro models.

i think he meant bad luck not baud like lol. but i would get a couple stunners in addition to the cf's you have now and they can actually be mounted outside the splash guard as they are waterproof. if yours has the wide door on the front of the hood for feeding than you can mount one or both there. but i would put one on there and one on the back area of the splash guard where it just covers the ballasts for the cf's.
