Ok, I'll take the input from you nosy men that are here as well lol.
Do you moisturize your arms by using lotion and then when you wanna get your hands in the tank wash them up to your shoulders? Or are you now growing scales and walk around with salt creep on your arms? Tell me what do you do and how do you do it.

okay. someone who knows chemistry better might correct me, but I believe the following is true

Lotion is an emulsion. Emulsions are basically mixtures of oil and water. To get them to blend together they use surface-acting-agents, or surfactants. Surfactants are really bad for fish. I think I read that fish die when the concentration reaches like 15 parts per million.

my advice would be to moisturize after you are done in the tank.
PS guys have skin too

Hands in water no less than 4 hrs a day.

Never had issues with dry hands or skin.... However I know many folks that do have bad reactions to salt water. I wonder if it is the same for them in the ocean, or just in a synthetic saltwater environment.

Lol, yeah but most guys don't care much about lotions that smell delicious. :tongue:Please you know better than that, are we EVER done with our tanks?;)

well, scrubbing your hands is worse than not putting the lotion on! I know, I have problems with the skin on the back of my hands. If you could see them right now, you would understand, around my wrists and knuckles they are dark red and the whole back of my hands are reddish. best thing for your hands- aloe infused gloves. not the kind that look the same on the inside as the outside, but the kind that have an almost gel layer on the inside. if you sleep in those, you will have the softest nicest hands and then you can put lotion that smells good on the rest of you lol.

No science to back this up but..... I believe that using lotion is like using medicine. The more you use the more you need. Stop using the lotion and your skin will dry out for a while but then nature will take its course. For the most part medicine is the same. I never take anything and never get more than the common cold.

I have bad eczema on my right hand from being in the tank getting pricked, scraped, cut, and punctured. It looks like I have some odd disease and its very cracked and painful. Using an intensive lotion treatment and its improving. Go find bovine examination gloves online. They go shoulder high. Get good ones. The cheap ones leak like crazy.

Saltbubbles... lotions that smell delicious? Please think about the crowd your addressing..

I wash my hands and always wear nitrile gloves if I am touching anything in the tank. They are only about 9 bucks a package for 50. Better safe than sorry. I think they have saved me from brisstel worm sticks in past.

I have heard this! dont use chap stick, and you won't need it. also, people who use intensive acne treatments have more severe outbreaks for longer, when most people stop breaking out due to hormone changes in the body

ahh me too on both hands but lotion only makes it worse! aquaphor is better than anything the dermatologist ever gave me. give the aloe gloves a shot, Seth. they can be used with lotion.
The worst is when they just go all out purple. If that hasn't happened to you, be glad, because it looks like your hand was crushed and is bruised all over!

I should qualify my previous statement to reflect that I was talking about the average person. I understand that some have medical issues that would require treatments.

Lol I do know, which is why this thread is addressed to lady reefers:shades:

it puts the lotion on its skin or it gits the hose again girls with scale skin are hot ;p

Ive always had dry skin and cant even use scented lotion. I just wash my hands and some of my arms before putting them in the tank, rinse with fresh water and put lotion on after!

Ok I am male but get dry skin as well. I always wash my hands / arms before going in the tank. I put lotion on at night when going to bed as I know I will not be in the tank...

I forgo the lotion all together because my hands are ALWAYS in the tank.

Drinking your 8 glasses of water a day keeps your skin hydrated enough :D
