ok.. so channel 1 on my PC4 wasn't coming on and off correctly. I bought a new PC4 and it is doing the same thing. Even when I set the channel to "ON" it SAYS on with indicators and on the web program, but nothing happens.

it isn't the light because I can plug it in somewhere else and it works fine.

is it the head unit?

whats going on ?

B

no one? the indicators all say on, but no power coming through. new pc4.

Have you tried using an Apex instead? ;)

I kid..I kid...

I have 2 things that I always try: unplug and replug and hit it. If one of the 2 doesn't take care of it, it's game over!

You have just displayed all the skills needed to be a member of Comcast customer support.

Are your SID and software up to date? I would try plugging the head unit in on its own after the update and then the individual PC4. Beyond that I am not sure......

+1 on the Comcast support

yea its crazy.. i updated them this weekend.. and they were running the right software.. really getting frustrated at this.

I'm starting to think its a head unit issue...

I've restarted the head unit several times and it will function correctly for a day... then one of the outlets on the pc4 will go out and not function correctly. Again.. .the pc4 is new

I'm going to unplug all the other units later today so that I'm ONLY running the head unit and the pc4 and see if something weird is going on.

ok.. so I unplugged the "out" network cable of the PC4 so that it was just the PC4 and Head Unit... plugged it back in and things began functioning normally...

whats going on? part of me says I'm glad its working NOW, but I can't rest with my reef computer working "for now"... I need it stead all the time.

any experience ? advice?

I haven't yet... i find i normally end up fixing stuff by myself after CS fails

I was having the same problem a while ago and looked up on the forms and saw that I needed to buy this little connector that you can buy at Walmart about 4 or 5 inches and just has a plug on each side and it lights up when it's on and that stopped all my issues. some issue with certain pumps on them. Just go to Walmart and buy those they're like 10 bucks for four of them and I will resolve your problem

like some kinda data cable coupler ? any links or pictures of the thing?

I dont sorry. All it is a small extention cord basically. Only about 5" and has clear colored ends. When u plug them in u can see the light on. I searched the da forms and another guy posted about it. Im not sure why it works but it does. Ran mine that way for a year before selling setup and moving.

ok update

with the data cable plugged into port 2 of the pc4 (going to the SL1 unit) the functionality for channel 1 on the pc4 ceases. When it is unplugged it works as it should.

What Jimmy is describing I think is a mini surge protector that you basically plug into channels 1 and 4 to help eliminate the constant audible clicking on a non DC pump in wavemaker function. I had this problem before I upgraded to Tunze 6105's.

I"m going to corrupt the data on the SL1 and reinstall the firmware for the unit... something is weird with it... and it is clearly the SL1 that is causing the issue
