I have a reefkeeper2 that works fine but the display has become so dim I can hardly read it.the brightness setting is at 100% and when you adjust it the only thing that dims are the input leds. my question is does anyone have a controller only they would like to sell or can anyone tell me if any of the other digital aquatics controllers will work with my existing pc-4 such as the reefkeeper lite?

Sounds like you either have a connection problem within the screen, possible voltage issue going to the screen, or the screen is on its way out. Is the screen LCD? Might be worth opening the controller and check for moisture, and or at least unplug (if possible) the LCD, and plug it back in. You might also look to test the voltage going to it. Look at the circuit board for any Capacitors. Look at the top of them, if they are bulged then that Cap is bad. It should have a flat top.

Good luck!

My RK2 did the exact same thing. Had to send it to DA to get it fixed. I think it was around $50 and took about a week or so to get it back. That was a couple of years ago and it is still working great. Check on their website for more info on getting it repaired. IME they have excellent customer service.

thanks for the input guys.it is just the LCD display because when I adjust the brightness the LED"S for the inputs will dim and brighten just fine.think I will contact DA tomorrow and see if I can by a remanufactered one and send mine back. hate to be without it for a week or two. went for years without one but have definantly become dependant on it. maybe it is just time to up grade. any suggestions on a good controller?
