I installed some new seals in a Barracuda this week. Bought it from a member hear a while back...but this is the first time I have plugged'er up.
The pump is a beast and seems to operate really well. I tied it into a Brute full of water for a test run for about 15 minutes.
She seems a bit noisey. Kind of a rattling noise.

Is this normal for these pumps?

Thanks!

there's a small "fiberous" washer on the shaft between the motor housing and the pump head.. make sure that it's securely pushed up against the motor..

they call it the "slinger" washer..

if it moves down the shaft to the middle, it makes an aweful racket..

Maybe something is wrong with yours? My Marlin is very quiet considering how powerful it is. Sure I hear a hum... but thats in the basement so no big :D

Thanks guys.
I"ll look into the slinger washer. I have not plumbed it to my system yet, so I have a little time to dial it in.

post a picture of the space between the motor/shaft/pump head.. and I'll tell you if that's it..

ALSO...

if it sounds like its coming from the rear of the motor.. sometimes the cooling fan shrouds are snug and actually catch the blades of the cooling fan.. you can loosen it & adjust it if need be..

That pump should be almost silent. I have had hammerheads running for years and none of them have made noises.

... mine too...

sounds like a cellphone lying on the floor..

(I was gonna say something else)

That's what she said..:lol2:

yes.. resonance is your issue... (mine sits on a 1/8" foam "drawer liner" to cut the resonance..)
