You are 100% correct Steve. And I am doing so as soon as I get back home with the new heaterSorry man, but consider it a blessing to happen now with minimal losses and not 6 months later with a lot more fish and coral. Good time to set up a temperature controller with the new heater.
I have one now it will be hooked up tonightDamn. That sucks to hear. Do you have your heater on a controller? If not, inkbird makes them fairly cheap. Def worth the failsafe.
I have just never had green algae this soon.Nah, looks good, cycle of life and all, proof you tank can sustain some kind of algal life. This is nothing compared to what will happen later. Depending on how worried you are you can turn down the lights a bit if you don't have any coral you need to keep at certain light levels.
It was live rock that I cooked for a month to kill anything bad on the rock. Then seeded it with a rock from a friend's tankWhat kind of rock did you start with? A Lot of the white dry rock out there is chock full of phosphates. If you mature it for a couple months in a tub you can get most of it out. Using it fresh and you will deal with gha for a while
