Refugium- in sump or separate tank?

i think the bin is too tal for them to crawl, but I do have the restrain, you can see it in one of the pictures.
Yea that the best way to run it, when possible. I pull the water for my ATS and Skimmer from the drain chamber. I'd have to do the same if I ran a fuge because of the flow I run through the DT.
If you have too much flow you could maybe run one take to the fuge 1st and the other directly to the sump.

Yup, I had this idea and designed in my mind and it has worked for almost a year now. I'd say it has been great.
I'm just getting my system back up and running after 10 years away from the hobby. I have a 55 gallon tank (with lots of base rock and a small amount of chaeto) that I use as a dedicated fuge for pod propagation. I run water into it from the main tank via a basic pump and flexible tubing. It sits a little higher than the 125-gallon DT, and water returns to the DT through a PVC pipe. The 20-gallon sump sits below the tank with a small bit of live rock rubble in it for additional filtration/propagation.
