Refugium lighting and sand?

Several folks have talked about using an inexpensive light from an office supply store for lighting a HOB refugium. Will a 20w halogen light work or does it need to be compact florescent?

Secondly, when I rinse my new bag of sand, should I use saltwater or is RO good enough?

No can use halogen it is wrong spectrum, go to walmart or home depot and find the pc screw in bulbs that say 6500k - and get a small reflector socket, will run you about $15

^^^^^ Yep I agree... Take the $15 route and use a flood light that is 5100 - 6500K...The only bad thing here is it is a HOB fuge so contolling where the light goes without making it look like a flood light is going to be hard.
