In a previous post I indicated that I was just getting back into the hobby! Tank is set up but in the finished basement. What to do to keep an eye on the monster setup? I bought a wireless security system at Sam's Club for $69.00. Hooked it up to my 50 inch flat screen and now I can keep an eye on the tank and the wife at the same time :yay: Sorry I can't show you how well this works.
BTW: Thanks to all for setting up the Christmas Dinner/Get together, we had a great time!

The BEST solution for remote viewing and "at a glance" knowing what is going on with your system is some sort of aquarium controller, like a Reef Keeper II or an Aquacontroller. For the price vs. bells and whistles, you would want the Aquacontroller 3 or Jr. For good looks, you want the RKII.

Good Idea! Is the quality of the video any good?

I wasn't trying to gain any more info other than just viewing the tank to see it from "far away" and to be sure water levels in sump were still OK. I'm still learning!
As for the quality of the remote image it was pretty good (My wife couldn't get over the quality and the technology) Now for the down side that I just discovered. The remote wireless runs on 2.4 ghz, it knocked out my wireless router connection to my notebook computer which is wireless g ~ I guess this post should be on another site but it is all about my salt water tank.

Yup I have a JBJ ATO also, best $79.00 I have spent!!! And no more asking my neighbor to add water when I got out of town!

I have been planning on setting up one myself. I like the DLink wireless ones as it simplifies the wiring for me and most have good digital quality. I would love to have the DCS-6620G, but that is out of my price range. I will probably get one of the DCS-5000 series.

Thanks for the feedback! Changed channels with no luck. Went to buy a DLink Wireless N that works on higher frequency only to find out my notebook computers internal wireless card isn't compatible. Web cam might be better solution since I've got computers next to the tank. Thanks for the advice on JBJ ATO I'm going to check that out right now.

IP Cams will work great if you have DSL or Cable with Static Ip But they are a little pricey they can be in the $300-500 for a camera lens & power supply depending on the brand, Resolution, Lens Size, Etc

For those that don't have a static IP address the Slingbox works quite well. You can use pretty much any camera that uses coax or RCA type video outs. The slingbox service (free) tracks your current IP so you can access it via the streaming software. It has excellent quality and is constantly adjusting the stream by monitoring the available bandwidth. The larger unit can accept 2 video sources. I use one for the camera and the other for Directv.
