removing a clam

how can i remove a clam from a rock with out harming it?the clam is firmly planted on this rock for about a year .it is a crocea about 4 in. long i want to rearrange my rocks.thanks

If you can you could try to chisel the rock right underneath the foot. You do not have to chisel that much rock but enough so you do not mess up his foot.

you could try that but you might also run the risk of the rock cracking and damaging the foot. If you gently lift on the clam you'll see its bysal threads attached to the rock, cut those with a razor blade as close to the rock as possible....dont worry this wont hurt the clam for those regenerate.
