repairing bottom glass on 240 gal tank

She'll actually be OK when she realizes a) it won't be up and running too quickly and b) I didn't have to raid the 401K. Finally I'll be able to put the new skimmer to good use!

Very nice man. This will be one good build. Easyist way IMO would be to take some thin piano wire and push it through the bottom then pull all around the bottom pane. Once the bottom is removed go to town on the silcone. Try not to ruin the sides. Then lift it or set the top on it. And silicone. You can use a wooden dowel. To smooth and push the silcone into place. Then use a razor to remove the excess.

We bought a 220 with a cracked bottom 2 years ago. It had been dropped on a corner. Instead of replacing the bottom John siliconed 1/2 inch thick glass tiles 12x12 inches over the crack from one end to the other. Just make sure the tiles are sitting well in silicone. The whole bottom of the tile needs to be covered.
The tank has been up and running without any problems for almost 2 years now.
