I am replacing my RKL head Unit with an RKE Head Unit. The RKL is currently controlling 2x PC4 and an SL1 and an SL2 module. My question is will I need to reprogram everything after the switch? I thought the actual programing was with the modules and the PC4s. I tried to call DA but got a recording.

I beleive the programming is saved on the head unit so you would have to reprogram it anyway - you may have to flash the firmware too as the RKL's firmware is "ahead" of the RKE firmware I think...

looking at the DA support forum I see nothing that indicates you have to reprogram anything but I would set some time aside to do it and if you dont end up having too then...bonus!

its funny reading that forum though.....for every thread from somebody needing help there is a response from DA telling them how stupid they are..

You have to reprogram everything. Settings are stored in the head units, not the modules.

MyReef was supposed to include a "backup" feature, but this still hasn't been implemented yet. Even though DA is calling this latest release 'production' and no longer beta, it still has bugs and features missing.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for DA to activate the backup/maintenance features in myReef anytime soon. I have a sneaking suspicion that button on myReef is just an image placed there, and they haven't even begun to program those functions yet. You are just going to have to re-program everything once you get the new headunit.

Hope this helps,
Landon

I don't have an answer - but I do wanna buy that RKL head unit from you!

He is probably trading it in for the $50 credit, if he is getting the RKE headunit from DA.
