Is it ok to use a tank that was used for something other than fish. If so what should I clean it with.
Thanks

probably ok if it had reptiles......just clean it really well with vinegar....I would also make sure that its a fish tank and not a "reptile tank." they sell reptile tanks that are not made to hold water.

I'd spray it with a bleach/water solution very well, AND then rinse AND LET DRY. Bleach is toxic of coarse, but breaks down to salt and water, when it dries, it just leaves a faint salt residue.

That would suck to find out your new fish tank was only meant to house reptiles so check the seals and glass thickness.

You can usually tell the "critter cages" apart from regular tanks (if the thinness of the glass doesn't show) by the plastic tabs on the top bezel of the tank that are for securing the screen tops.
