Reusing sand

The sand from my old tank is in sealed buckets and when moving I didn't have time to dry it out. I'm dreading opening those buckets... lol
At this point I'm thinking that the buckets are going to be opened outside on a windy day and the sand filler in the yard.

nope I wouldn't want to open those buckets if @mphammer experience is any indication of what you'll find.

the smell of decay from the sand will make your stomach turn inside out. probably some mold in there as well.

Yes exactly. I may have misinterpreted the op when he said it was fallow for 2 months. @Dmac was the sand removed from the water for those 2 months?

In that case, like Steve said you would probably be fine thoroughly rinsing and reusing.

Hmm.... me thinky those buckets will go to the dump then. With my weak stomach, I have no desire to have the throat burn from an acid backup. Fortunately Hall County has a free dump transfer station not far from my house.

On a side note we really need to get more emoji's installed. I've had several I've wanted to use lately.
