Anybody know a good method for getting ricordea to let go of a rock? I have 8 or 9 of them that I want to get off of a rock. They are nice ricordea and I want to keep them, just not on this rock with aiptasia and GHA (Still in my qt)

That's a tough one, I took mine off a frag plug and it was gone forever. I would try chipping the rock to get them off so they are still attached to something. You can pull them but may cause damage

Well the good news is that I started running some po4x4 media and did 48 hrs off with the lights so now I have about 1/10 of the GHA I had in the tank a week ago.

If only my cleaner shrimp had not murdered every last one of my peppermint shrimp (except the one that somehow hitchiked into my biocube) then I would be well on my way to a solution.

The rock doesn't look easy to break. I'm going to try burning the aiptasia with a lighter, I've heard this can work pretty good lol. Luckily they aren't too close to the rics.

I've heard of people using a cold spoon to get a nem to loosen its grip. Maybe it will work on shrooms.

Chip them off the main rock with a hammer and a flat head screw driver. So u will have a ric already attached to this small pebble and then u can glue the pebble with the ric to whatever u want.

Just wear safety glasses !!!!!!!!! I chipped a Rhodactis off a rock to move it last week and almost lost my left eye. The slime apparently is toxic to your eyes and will cause blindness. I didn't go blind but definitely wanted to gouge my eye out it hurt so bad, 5 days of misery.......

I might, with the GHA almost gone I might just try to break off the aiptasia instead of the ricordea. Had someone known a good way to get them to let go, I would have probably done that.

My awesome red/blue rhodactis are really easy to get off.

Edit:

I'm always worried about this kind of stuff. Jimmy will tell you guys lol.

If only there was some way to get some hands on experience with fragging techniques in a controlled environment.... :)

I took the rock that has mine on it with some gha and gust put it in h2o2. The gha is all gone and my mushrooms are all good.

I'm with Jimmy on this however I use my dremel with a cut off wheel to cut them off and glue to a new home.

I normally use old flat head screw driver to remove corals from a rock.
