Rimless recommendations

I am interested in getting a rimless tank setup. Preferably a cube style, maybe 40G. I am unsure if I want to do a reef tank or a fish only tank with it at this point. What are some good pros and cons of the rimless over conventional with a top. Personally I like the clean look the rimless has to offer. I have always like the exotic aggressive fish like triggers, frog fish, lionfish, eels, etc and I have a 12g nano reef going now so I might be leaning toward something basic.

the best looking rimless in my opinion (aside from a custom tank) is the Oceanic Illuminata (57gal).. you can get it Reef Ready with overflows or without...


it's A LOT easier to do a fish only tank.. (which doesn't really have to be ONLY fish, but typically holds fish that eat clean up crews and/or hard corals)..

I LOVE my fish only.. (small puffer/regal tang/raccoon butterfly/damsel).. it's got blue clove polyps & green palys in it..

it really shouldn't be REEF OR FOWLR (fish only with live rock) it should be REEF EMPHASIS or FISH EMPHASIS..



If I had it to do all over again,
I would do a 15-30 gallon Reef cube (sps and colors)
and
100gal fish emphasis tank with all kinds of fun guys in it (and low light/dirty water corals)..

If you plan on keeping any of the larger fish you posted about, like trigs, eels, lionfish, you will need a much larger tank than a 40 gallon.

I think a rimless tank for a fish only is asking for it. Maybe frogfish or seahorses. Otherwise, there is a large risk of jumping. I think it's a bad mix.
