I have a 12 g nano, and my hand-me-down skimmer recently crapped out on me. I do want to run a skimmer, and unfortunately am in grad school and poor.

Anyway, does anyone have any experience with this thing? I have seen a couple posts online that sounded positive, but I thought I'd ask the ARCers.

Sam at aquabuys runs one on his nano in the store. I've seen good skimmate in it, and he says it performs pretty well.

Thanks - I'll definitely check that out.

He also has the best price I've seen on it.

This is looking pretty good for me at $27. There are some positive reviews, and it can't be worse than the Prizm skimmer on my tank right now. I think I'm in for one.

Thanks you two!

and... if you are a paying ARC member, you get a bonus discount.

It's amazing how quickly my membership card paid for itself. I used a printed email receipt until I got my card.

:yay:

My card paid for itself at the February frag meeting alone! The rest is just gravy.

Question about Aquabuys: I'm driving down from Athens this afternoon and I wouldn't mind driving through Lawrenceville. Is he open for walk up business?

I seems to work fine, the only problem I have is that it seems to loose it's siphon almost every other day. Also it does not surface skim so I get a milky skim on my water surface.

A pretty good little skimmer is this one: http://www.aquabuys.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=am_miniflotor&Category_Code=s1&Product_Count=6">http://www.aquabuys.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=am_miniflotor&Category_Code=s1&Product_Count=6</a>

The two big downsides are you have to occasionally replace or reactivate a wooden diffuser and as the diffuser slowly clogs you have to adjust the little skimmer. Otherwise it does a great job for its size.
