RIP Porcelain Crab :(

Couple weeks ago i wake up to find that my Porcelain crab is missing all the legs and even the claw fron the right side of his body. Yesterday i wake him and he is missing. He has always stayed in the same place for the month or so ive had him. I looked all day periodically trying to find him. Yesterday afternoon i find whats left of his shell in the pistol shrimps cave entrance. Mean ol' Pistol shrimp. Hes such a jerk. Always snapping at anything that comes anywhere near the openings to his caves. My Porcy crab was so gentle and nice. Never bothered anyone.. minded his own business and just fed all day. Ah well.

Hey! I was searching for Gorilla crab, I could have sworn my Porcelean crab was gone for sure. Parts here, parts there, after almost two weeks of being "sure of this" saw his sweepers under a rock. White as can be, Apparently they take a long time to shed/recoop.

really? hmm.. i have a fairly small tank so im sure i would have seen him.. but ill look around some more. thanks!

Yes they do. I was sure about 5 times over 2 years of my porcelain crab ownership he was done for. Then one day he would pop back out swatting like a champ again. I quit worrying about him till I didn't see if for 2 months. Im positive he is gone now. Seriously though, we mourned Ozzy's death more than once only to see him resurrected. Every time he shed he go better at not leaving pieces but a clone of himself swaying in current. Im glad he is ok!

It is possible, I found something creepy looking last night. It ends up being a Gorilla crab, and thought maybe he killed my Porcealan crab. After I removed the rock Mr. Gorilla was hiding in, I found a live porc. Good luck.

awesome. -- i was at Blue Planet the other day, and they had the BIGGEST gorilla crab i have EVER seen. It was literally almost the size of a blue crab (like you catch in the ocean when crab trapping) im going to try to get a pic of him next time. They found him in a customers tank. No idea what they are going to do with him. Man.. he was just absolutely huge. I cant imagine how many years it took him to grow that big.

I have read that they can grow rather quickly, I considered taking mine into the fish store. Have him sitting in a 1 gallon cube right now think I may make him his own pico just for curiosity sake.
