I just hooked up a Ro/DI unit and after getting the plumbing right I'm getting weird results on my dual tds meter. The input water is reading 001 ppm and the output is reading 008? How is this possible? I know for a fact the probes are in the correct locations. Earlier in my testing before I got all the leaks worked out it was reading 50-100 input and 0 for the output. Not I got the leaks fixed results are strange. Nothin has changed on the Ro unit since the first testing to the current setup.

Edit: I also switched the probes around just to be certain and got the same results.

Edit:

If its new you may need to run it for an hour or two to flush any preservatives and manuf. left overs out of it. Mine didn't read 0 until i ran about 15 gallons through it.

The output is doing nothing but raising higher. Does this mean my input water is better than my output water? Which element needs to be changed in order to get it back to zero. When I bought the unit all filters were suppose to be new. I let it sit for about 2 months before I hooked it up. It sat off those two months with water in each canister.

The instructions for my RO/DI unit says to reverse the input and output to flush the system every so often (don't remember how long or after how many gallons) to keep the membrane in good condition... maybe you have them backwards and your flushing your system.

That's a good thought I can try it but the input was marked with a label saying hook up to water input supply line.
