RO/DI Waste Water

I'd like to add a waste water container to my RO/DI System by splitting the waste line so that one would run to the container and one would run to the drain. I'd like to add an auto shut-off so that once the barrel is full, the excess water will divert to the drain.

I have an automatic shut-off and float valve to add to my container, I'm just not sure how to set it up so that it runs the way I'd like it to.

Comments or suggestions?

How close is the drain? Can you just add a bulkhead to the barrel and let it overflow into the drain?

It's only about 5' but its above the level of the container. The waste line will divert to a washer drain that's in a wall.
