So I am getting my tank may 5th. And the set up will be going together. I was sitting around and writing my wish list for equipment I need for the tank. I am wanting to buy my own ro unit but am limited on space and was just wondering how other folks have theirs set up. Don't want to have to bug a friend all the time to purchase his water.

Yea you told me about it and got me thinking really hard about it. Im not gonna get one for a few months but do want to have some sort of an idea how and what I need to do when that times comes..

If your limited on space you might want to look at a portable 50GPD unit that screws onto a faucet. I use about 40g a week so that's what I've been using for the last few years and it works for me. I filter enough water for my WC and top off for the week then put the unit away in a closet. AWI has a good one for $100.

I'm going to be keeping a brute can in the garage on a caster wheel plate. Mount a RO filter to the side and viola! Time to do a change...just wheel it in.

I think one day I will just win the lottery and that way I can pay some1 to do all the maintenance on the tank and all I have to do is look at it... just say'n

That's no fun! Half of the enjoyment is after the poop hits the fan and it's over...you can be proud. Trying to ease the painful reality that we probably won't win the lottery...:D

I was limited on space where the tank was too. I just put it in my bathroom under the sink and routed the line through the wall to the RO holding tank. Here is a pic of it.

Nicee!!! I was gonna say when you buy a new RO unit it will come with mutliple ways to hook it. I have mine setup to where I just hit the ball valve and it comes on. Its pretty much the same one I showed you in my truck when you picked up the refractometer. Remember Bulk reef supply!!! or Air water Ice, the one in the pic above is a filter guys unit I think. All three are great units. You kinda get what you pay for in this area as well. If you would like to come down to cochran I can show you mine in person and that way you can get some real time ideas and use them on the much anticipated 5th of may. Hooray for May

Like blake touched on, you have three companies you can't go wrong with. Air water ice/bulk reef supply/the filter guys. I've now had experience and owned all three. I keep mine under my kitchen sink and move it on top of the counter when it's time to run water. Come down and I'll make sure to send you back with a frag or two if your tank is capable of supporting them.

Thanks for all the help and ideas guys. Once I get up and running I will make a trip down and check out the setups you guys have. Hopefully I will be up and running by the second week of may. But after all this reading I have found out this hobby is like a woman, lots of time and money are needed (sorry ladies not meant in a bad way, and if my wife is looking at this just know I love u) lol thanks again guys

Sounds like you are on the right path.

Several ways to hook it up. At the old house I had a "y" valve on my washing machine cold side and just had one rolling can at that time. Ran the waste line to the drain for the washer too. Just wasn't enough room here to do that.

Never a problem, man you know that!

But see in the real world if there's a problem I just lock the folks up and be done with it..lol. in the fish world im the one that's gonna get locked up.. but luckily I have you all to keep me out of that bind....lol

Mine is outside along with a rubbermaid can. I just hook up the garden hose to it when I need to make ro water. I use the waste water to water the trees and shrubs.
