Rock question

I know I have asked about this before but I have some rock that got left out and froze in water. I have had it setting out in the sun and it is pure white again. What is the minimum equipment I need to be able to use this rock? I have been told to put in bucket with skimmer and change water couple of time a week and check ammonia. I do not have an extra skimmer so again what is the minimum I need?

The skimmer is optional, just set in tub with saltwater and watch the ammonia spike (if at all)...
