Rock sediment cleaning

How often do you clean sediment and detrius off your rocks. I used a turkey baster today to blow sediment and the such off my rocks and noticed I had more than I imagined. Made me start thinking maybe I should do it more often?

No matter how much flow you have, you will have dead spots within the holes in the rock. I usually blast my rocks when the pumps are off and I am doing a water change. That way I can vacuum all the jumk out.

I blast everything on the surface.. if it's down between rocks.. I don't kill myself to get to it..


I do it before every second water change

I just started siphoning water out over the rocks.

I blast with a bulb feeder about 30 min before each water change. (every 3 weeks)

I havent done it in a while but I need to - I use a small subersible pump like a maxijet, attach a tube to it and drop it in the tank and grab teh tube and go to town - endless supply of water and enough flow to push everything out into the column. WC immediately following or even at the same time
