RODI and mixing station

RODI is finished and leak tested. Mixing station I just glued up this morning and will leak test each tank in the coming days. I'm just missing a sump, skimmer and return pump. Hope to be finished by the end of July. That would make my reef tank journey exactly 2 years from my first equipment purchase to a running system. I can't wait for the headache and frustraition to begin!

I have a dog. He is 17. He gives no indication that he has one foot in the grave. Nobody believes me when I tell them his age because he doesn't look it or act like it (for the most part). This is because we take extraordinarily good care of him. Not like he is human...that would be bad; but like he is a dog down to the nuances of his specific breed. I believe fish and coral are the same way; give them the best of what they need to survive and thrive and success will follow. That is why it has taken me 2 years to get to this point; i try to buy the best equipment and I try to educate myself (and ask a lot of questions). I could have had a running tank 18 months ago if just having a running tank was my goal.

Were you able to get those water storage tanks locally? Or did you have to order them? I have been searching for quite some time and can only find online options that cost an extra $150+ just for shipping

There are many places online you can by Norwesco tanks and do a will call pickup at their plant in Griffin. Go on Norwesco's website and you can see which plants make and stock the different tanks. Then find the best price on what you're looking for and ask to pick up.

When I got my big tanks last fall I actually bought them through a company in Arizona.

I think it does. Even when I step hard in my apartment fish go scattering. I do believe that heavy/hardcore music would stress them. But I'd love to see how they react to some soft jazz...

Thats exactly my speed @aestheticlibra! Years ago I had a parakeet and a canary and they seemed to like it. Pop music was ok but nothing with thumping bass. My dog will sleep to smooth jazz. Curious to see how fish and coral react.

I had to drive to Newnan to get them but it beat the heck out of paying for shipping. They didn't have mine in stock but it only took about a week for them to come in. they charge a $20 pickup fee.

I think it effects them too. With my old setup, my speakers, two Cerwin Vega 15" woofers 400W, were pointed right at the display. I only cranked it up a couple times after putting the aquarium. Initially they spooked and scattered but after a couple minutes they seemed to relax a bit. My wife always complains when she's home and I turn it up because everything in the house rattles. I hate to think what it sounds like to them.

In the new house the tv & sound system will be in another room with the main speakers pointed in the opposite direction of the display and fish room.

I havent read through the entire thread yet but I completly agree with your statement above. Its the reason it's been 6 months to get where I am and I dont have water running yet! The reason we dont see Reef tanks in every house is the dedication and effort it takes to keep these animals alive and thriving. Not to mention the cost but anyway, very nice ro/di and mixing station! 2yrs, I dont think I can make it that long!

I'm going to have 2 tanks (120 with 60+ sump and 45 with 40 sump) and 2 qt tanks cycling here in the near future.
Thats going to be a lot of water changes and this was the best option I could find. Anyone seen these used for our purposes yet?

I actually did look at these, the food grade versions specifically. If I had more space, I would have gone that route no questions, but my whole mixing station is crammed into a small closet. I paid $140 for the 75 gallon!
