Do I have a faulty TDS meter or is this more normal than I thought.
When I filtered water about a week ago TDS out was reading 1 now tonight when I started filtration TDS out was reading higher than the water going in. About minutes later it settled down to 25-30 ppm which is still high in my book. In the past when filters were getting to their saturation point I would see readings gradually climb but not such a drastic jump from one week to the next. Has anyone else had a jump in filtration readings happen this fast?

Yeah mine has less then 2 months on the filters and started randomly reading 41 yesterday which as you said i thought was highish. Gonna purchase another meter and see before i replace filters.

I let water filter over night, interestingly I checked meter this morning and output water was 1 with input at 119

Rinse a glass with rodo, then put it directly under spout so it hits that first. Measure in that glass if u don't have an inline....in case u have any residue in barrel.

If water sits in the unit (ie when it's not running) you'll get a higher TDS until that runs through and new, fresher water starts making its way out.

I have an inline and I always have a bit higher reading until fresh water gets in the chambers but nothing like I saw yesterday and then it took nearly an hour to get below 13 but as I said in an earlier post this morning it was running at 1 ppm so I will accept that

How long do the filters last? I've had mine almost a year, probably 50 gal. a month, and it still reads 0. It is inline. My unit has 3 filters, from BRS, one of which is DI.

On a related note, I am amazed at how much waste water comes from the unit. I'm going to start catching it in a rain barrel for my garden. My pressure is 70+. Is that partially to blame? Would regulating the pressure reduce the waste?

do a search and you will find booster pumps and stacking a couple units to increase output and decrease waste water. waste water vs filtered water is around 3-1 if I am remembering correctly

That reads on target. Do u mean stacking a few whole units or just another ro membrane?

I was thinking the opposite with the pressure. Assuming reducing from 75 might reduce waste water.

Interesting idea on daisy chaining the units.

A friend gave me a rain barrel today she was not using. My first step will be to plumb it into irrigation for my garden.
