Is a 40 gallon sump going to be enough of a sump?

I would estimate about 10 gallons of water draining to the sump when the return is cut off, which is 25% of a 40 gallon sump.

I guess you could run all external equipment. Is that the plan?

I am planing on using the Tideline 48" and it hold 64 gallon and i will be using internal skimmer but debating the pump return.
