I have had a red bubble tip anemone for about three months now and since day one, it has remained attached to the same piece of rock. My question (or rather, my concern), is that the place it has hosted is at the bottom of the tank, in a small crevasse (medium lighting at best). The tank is 75 gallons (18 inches deep) with 216 watts of lighting (4 HO T-5s) with four new Ice Cap reflectors. Everything I have read indicates these anemones prefer bright, direct light. Despite its location, my anemone eats whenever I offer it food (about 3-4 times per month) however, the tips are not swollen (bubbled) and I do not believe it is thriving there. Should I try to relocate it to a higher spot in the tank or leave it where it placed itself three months ago? I add (3-4 times per month) idodide, calcium, and strontium (which has made a DRAMATIC improvement in my soft corals). My tank perams. are fine (0 nitrates, 0 nitrites, 0 phosphorous, temp is 80, calcium 450ppm). Thank you!

It will relocate itself if it is having problems. They are, at times, frustratingly mobile.

If it's not losing it's color or looking all wilted, leave it alone. Anemones will move if they are unhappy. I've kept almost all types of nems throughout the years...RBTA's seems to be a little different than some. The tips on mine rarely bubble and it's on the bottom of my tank 24" deep with 3x175W MH's....it's off to the side getting lower PAR than other spots. If it's eating and looking good, leave it alone :)

They can move wherever they want in the tank. It probably likes it there. I hate when they start moving. If it does it will sting coral and go straight to a powerhead for some reason. Has it grown in size? I've seen bta that stay bubbled and then usually the huge ones I've seen will have the really long tentacles. I dont think it is a health concern though

I agree they move when they want and are fickle at times. I have had many and it almost depends on the individual specimine. Its like they have different personalities

Thank you all for the advice! While most everyone agrees, the anemones move when they want, I have also had many people ask me of its condition. Well, I have a green BTA that rests at the top of my tank and looks great! The RBTA however looks pitiful and regularly deflated in it's dank cavern. That said, should I still let it be? I learned a while back to screen all of my piwerheads.
