Bought a frag of mystic sunset montipora from another member here a few weeks ago. Beautiful frag. Put it in my tank and all was well for the first few days. Woke up one morning to find that it had completely bleached out in a strip right down the middle. Over the course of the next few days, it started spreading out and I figured it was a goner. Now, it has filled back in and has quickly started encrusting the rubble it was on. I thought RTN at first but now I wonder if maybe something in my tank (bristle worm, peppermint shrimp, etc.) was bothering it. Any ideas?

It was a vertical strip from top to bottom of the frag about 1/8" wide and it spread from there. Nothing anywhere near it.

Only thing I can figure is that it was adjusting to your system somehow? The tissue never died.... If it came back like that... And it definitely wasn't RTN...
Strange, but I'd let it go and enjoy your growing coral!;)

;)

Do you have a Euphyllia or an anemone that could have laid down a tentacle across it?

Only other coral in the tank are zoanthids and they are several inches away from it.

Weird. Monti eating nudis usually eat along the outside, so I'd rule them out.
