I have been running GFO all the time on my tank. I remember seeing someone say in a thread once that it might cause burnt tips on your sps.

I just noticed what looks like that.

Is running it all the time a good idea or just when I think I need it is better? Actually I started running it to keep phosphates at 0 and then just kept it running. Been running for months.

Thanks in advance

Where is the alk, mg, and ca?

There are a bunch of reason that could cause burnt tips. Pin pointing the exact cause can be tricky. Usually a result of unstable parameters, not enough food, flow burn, too much light, not enough light... Etc.

besides Alk, Calcium, Mag, (and what Dylan suggested) you would need a real "low range Phosphate Test Kit" in order to know what they are.

What are your trates?

"burnt tips" is usually a misnomer for high nutrients in a tank, or high Alk in an ULNS.....and you would know if you had an ULNS!

How big system? how much and what kind GFO? and how often are you changing it?
