When I run them, it’s on a timer during daytime. At night is when pods & plankton come out. So, it’s a trade off, but I try to protect them as much as possible.
As far as UV sizing, most of the literature was based on studies done for drinking water applications. Which is a single point source treatment. In our aquaia they are typically used in a recirculating mode & are more than adequate if you use manufacturer sizing charts. Aqua UV’s are accurate, I haven’t looked into the other’s in a while.
