I am looking at getting one of these and just wondering if anybody has one and what there thoughts on them were. I would like to keep sps and i am wondering that if even adding more of the led strips if it would even be possible. Thanks in advance for the help. Also if anybody has some suggestions on other nanos that would be great. This is going in my office on my desk so space is somewhat limited.

I have a Fluval Edge with EcpPicos and I love it!!!!! I LLLLUUUUUVVVV it. Like Itailian Love Baby.......It's the perfect light for the perfect desk tank.......

Buy 3 white units if you want a few SPS

So you use the ecoxotic led strips on the edge? I heard that the edge was kind of difficult to convert to a "reef" style tank.

Edit: Should have asked for pics if you have some.

Sorry, just now seeing the replies to this thread due to the last bump....

Check out my build thread, although the EcoPicos don't come in to play until late in the thread.....

I think I'll post more pics this afternoon

Edit: Oh, and the Edge isn't difficult at all, after you realize that your approach should in fact be like building a ship in a bottle...... This is one of the most fun tanks I've had. Don't over stock it with fish, and you'll be fine.

For a 6g tank, it has a very small footprint. Great for a desk

Edit: I'm really glad I went with the Edge..... Also, no exposed water, you can't see the top of the tank, which makes it somehow look better for an office environment.

Right now I am deciding between an ecopico and the eheim 9. I like the look of the ecopico (and it will be cheaper just to put on my office desk...), but I am not sure 2 small clowns could fit well in the 5g. Might be too much of a bioload / outgrow fast. Not sure though?

^If they are small, they should be fine^

No more fish than that though

i broke down and bought the Aqueon evolve 8 last night. It was on sale at the store and i could not pass it up. Very nice and clean little tank. Will have to start a small build thread for it when i get going with it.

Gixxer600- didn;t really read your last post. Mind letting us know you your setup goes, and how well that acrylic AIO fares in its first few months? It's a surpisingly inexpensive tank for what you get, if it works.

ATLWEB-

The Aquastyle 9's a nice tank...I've got one and it's coming along slowly but nicely. But I spent a lot of time and surprising amount of $ trying to wring decent performance out of that little corner filter unit (hint...it's exactly the wrong size for anything you'd like to put in it) and finding a lighting solution I liked the looks of. But the tank is incredibly quiet and a lot more flexible than I expected. Just not cheaper once the lighting changes and tinkering budget ended up tallied. ;-)

As a desk tank that has to cooexist with...work, you may want the Aquastyle 6, the Nuvo Nano 8 or the EcoPico. Either of the others comes with a better "reef capable" lighting option unlike the Aquastyle, and I think the NN's got a better filter design for accepting off-the-shelf nano medias (the small sealed pouch of Purigen, the mini-size baggie of Chemipure, Fluval Edge bagged carbon etc).

In an office, you're probably going to prefer anything with maintenance that is simplified down to "Rinse, Pop, Swap and Run". The Aquastyle's not that tank, from my experience.

Not a problem. I am in the cycling stages right now. So far seems to be a pretty neat little set-up. I could not pass up the price either while i was at the store. The light seems to be a little week but what could you expect.
