Anybody know about the Sailfin Tang? Im wanting to get one but want to know first hand experiences with them. How aggressive are they? Do they get ich easily? How are they in a reef? Would they work in a 65 Red Sea? ( A baby one) What do they eat. Anything else I need to know? Thanks:up:

They get BIG fast. Mine is less than a year with me and it is about 9 inches. She was about 4 inches when I got her. I do not know what size tank you have but ayou need a big tank.

They are pretty aggressive. Or at least mine is. They grow fast mine is in a 75. But I got a 225 I am working on. They seem to grow fast for a tang.

Both redsea and the indian ocean sailfin grow pretty fast . Good fish can be aggresive from what ive seen with fish introduced after it. My desjardini sailfin has been ok thus far. i have added 4 fish after it but each time i kept my eye on him for a few days

have kept sailfins for 10 years now and while I'm reading about their growth rate I can't say I saw that kind of growth with one I had for 10 years and the new one I purchased to replace him after he died. Neither of the sailfins I've had have been aggressive with other fish and actually have been great tank mates with the other tangs, wrasse, clowns, blennies, damsels etc I have kept in my tanks. They are healthy eaters of most everything I put in the tank, I use tongs to hold cubes of food in front of powerheads and they will come up and peck away at the cubes and will actually take food from my fingers if I use my hand to feed.
A good fish with lots of personality and fun to watch zipping back and forth with their fins fully expanded.
Get one you won't be disappointed

What other types of tangs have you had them with?

koles, powder blues, fox face and a couple others that I don't remember at this time.
the sailfin and powder blue lived together for many many years and got along just fine. I currently have a sailfin and kole and they pay absolutely no attention to each other
