OK, so I finally broke down and purchased a Mg test. I figured Salifert was a good way to go, but had NO idea there would be so many components to the testing! 
I followed the instructions to the letter (twice) and I'm running out of reagent before I get any color change. There's also around 2ml or air at the top of the reagent syringe. The instructions say a cushion of air is normal, but that much? I don't know...
If I'm not getting a reaction, what would be the cause? Is it possible my Mg levels are off the charts low? I can't imagine since I use SeaChem Reef Salt.
