Salinity question ect

You are beyond the ammonia stage...... It's nitrite you need to be testing for at this point. When nitrite tests at zero, you're golden.

Salinity isn't exactly what you mean, as you are referring to the Specific Gravity </em>of the tank water. Your Specific Gravity of 1.025 if dead on perfect for a reef tank. For a fish only tank, you could go as low as 1.020 if you'd like....

Salinity usually reefers to another parameter, but you'll learn about that later....

thanks everybody for all the helpful info :) It's been running with saltwater for 3 weeks so hopefully it will be done soon. Is carbon a good thing to use for the milky stuff or should I leave everything well enough alone for now?

Thats such good news :) Glad it's where it should be on salinity. I will keep watching those Nitrite's & crossing fingers :grouphug:

There is no actual method to determine how long it will take to cycle the tank. There are too many variables to consider to give you a definite time line. The cloudy tank could be several things but I will check it out tomorrow pm and test your water.
