my last bucket of IO, by the end of it was all clumped up. Has anyone ever put silicagel packets in their bucket to remove moisture? Would this even help? I just moved to Salinity and would like to prevent clumpage; mixing it's enough of an issue as it is lol.

Thx

Take some mesh material like a knee high, cheese cloth, even a paper towel will do if you tie it up right... pack it with rice and seal it in with your salt to absorb moisture

That's a very good idea

i store it in my bedroom closet... yea rice would work just as well! and leave me some piece of mind that i didnt accidently scoop the silca pack and toss it in my water to mix!

man i didnt even think about rice... i mean alot of restaurants use it in their salt shakers for this exact reason! thx Pamelahaley! ill be making me a riceball later lol

You're welcome. That's where the idea came from. Just make sure it's raw. I interpret rice balls as yummy cooked sticky goodness. I had to do it recently for a container of salt which I usually poured over boiling water, which led to clumping. It took a few weeks to get it all totally dry again but, in the meantime large clumps arent usually too rough to break with your hands.

Salt clumps dissolve quite easily in water. I've never had an issue with them, other than the inconvenience.

I always put a plastic bag over my bucket and then close the lid. Never had a problem. But then again, the bucket doesn't last me long enough to clump up. :/
